Black screen on my laptop on start up

I have a Toshiba Satellite L300D laptop with Vista programing, I tried to load a game onto it from disc, it failed half way through, I tried to delete it, not worked, tried re-store not worked, tried restore to factory setting F8, black screen, cannot do anything as cannot see anything, also tried F12, no joy, fan works, disc runs on start up (no disc in) but no change, tried disconnecting battery and power lead press power up 30 seconds, re-attach battery and lead nothing, will try connecting to projector tomorrow see if that allows me to see screen, just in case anybody got any better idea. thanks in advance...
