Laptop screen turns black while running.

Hi,while working on my laptop(dell inspiron 15r) the screen just went blank while the laptop is still running.i also went through the process of taking out the battery and pressing the power button for 20 sec but that didnt work too....and after restarting,the screen is still blank and nothing appears on it...i am in a big mess as their is several important files ..please help.

This appears to be a sudden hardware failure. The laptop will need "hands-on" access from a local PC repair shop to diagnose.
