Hi there

I saved from my old laptop (Windows Vista) some files to my external hard drive and tried to open them in my new laptop (Windows 10). However, my external hard drive seems to be empty although it's not empty. I just don't see the saved files.

Plus, I get the following error, each time I plug my external hard drive in

D:\

This file does not have a program associated with it or performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel.

What am I supposed to do? Would appreciate any help.

Thanks a lot in advance

Hello

The hard drive was formatted with Vista, that's why it says that there is no programme associated with it.

Anyway, try this:

Try this 1

Check if the files are not in hidden mode.

Click on "Start" -->Run --> Type cmd and press Enter.

Here I assume your hd drive letter as G:

Enter this command.

attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*

--> Press Enter

You can copy the above command --> Right-click in the Command Prompt and

paste it.

Note : Replace the letter g with your pen drive letter.

Now check your pen drive for the files.
