Soundflower is an open-source kernel extension for the Mac operating system, it is designed to create a virtual audio output and input device. This is our Soundflower download page.

Key Features

Soundflower offers two different modes for managing sound input and output. There is a 2-channel and a 16-channel mode. You can use Soundflower as a virtual audio device. The 2-channel mode gives you the possibility to send audio from one to the other application.

If you are working on a project that requires virtual audio distribution, you can select the 16-channel mode. If you desire, you can select Soundflower as the default audio input or output by going to the macOS system preferences.

Is Soundflower Safe?

It seems that Soundflower has no history of security issues or abusive data collecting.

Is Soundflower Free?

Yes it is. You can download and install Soundflower completely free of charge.

Other Platforms

Soundflower is exclusively designed for macOS, meaning that there is no such thing as a Soundflower Windows application. However, there are some alternatives on Windows that offer similar functionalities, for example VoiceMeeter Banana, Virtual Audio Cable and Dante Via.

System Requirements

You can use Soundflower on macOS 11.1 Big Sur and older versions of Apple's desktop operating system. Recent Macs with M1 chips are not yet supported by this software.
