Pokémon Uranium is a fan-made game that follows the Pokémon series. The game experienced a very positive reception from the public, reaching 1.5 million downloads before getting banned for not complying with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) regarding Nintendo. A new website, created by community members, is active today. In this article, we discuss some of the game’s key features, as well as some additional information.

Key features

Here are some of the main features of Pokémon Uranium:

  • Pokédex: The Pokemon Uranium Pokedex counts 200 species! You can catch them all in the Tandor region - the full list is available online and you can also check their type.

  • Begin your Journey: Players start in the Tandor region (divided in West Tandor and East Tandor) - there, they will have to catch Pokémon but also collect 8 Gym Badges. This will allow them to participate in the Tandor Regional Championship.

  • Starters: Because the game tries its best to be canon to the original games in the franchise, there are three Pokemon Uranium starters. Players have to pass a Pokémon Trainer Test at the beginning of their journey in Moki Town and Professor Bamb'o will give them Orchynx, Raptorch, or Eletux.

  • Enjoy: As mentioned above, the story takes place in the Tandor region - it contains 9 cities, one league, 5 places of interest, 12 roads, and 5 gyms - you can find everything about the region on the fandom page. You can also check the list of all the available items.

In August 2016, after receiving multiple DMCA takedown notices, Pokémon Uranium was banned and the development of the game was stopped. It is now maintained by community members.
