Whether you are a fan of word games or not, you must try the now world-famous word game called Wordle. Every day you will have the opportunity to compete against the whole world, trying to guess the same word in only 6 attempts.

What is Wordle?

Wordle is a web-based game that has gone viral on every social network worldwide. This funny little word-guess game was developed by the software engineer Josh Wardle, who created it for his partner, a fan of word games. It is not the first time Josh Wardle made something that amazed many people on the internet; in April 2017, he created a vast collaborative art social experiment called Place.

Gameplay

• Guess the word: You will get 6 attempts to guess a randomly picked five-letter word from scratch. For each shot, if your letter is in the right spot, it will appear green; if it is part of the word but not in the right spot, it will appear yellow; otherwise, it will appear gray (and you should not use it again). Of course, you must enter an existing word (and not some AOEIU kind of guess as I first tried), and you will be able to see all the previous words you tried.

• Compete against the world: All the world will be able to try to guess the same word. That kind of challenge makes this simple game addictive and creates considerable stakes. Every day you will be able to challenge yourself, your friends, and all the other players in the entire world. Pretty challenging and exciting.
• Share: A true challenge for every human deserves proper ways to share your result without spoiling other people. That is why once you successfully or unsuccessfully complete the daily puzzle, you will be invited to share it with an image displaying all the attempts and the corresponding color for each letter. Every day you will be able to share your results with all your friends, the way you want, including on social media such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and using any messaging app you want.

• Elaborate your strategy: The language contains a finite amount of words (and if you dare search into the code, you will be able to see all the possibilities), and each time you try to guess the word, you get more clues to find the unique solution. It seems complicated that you only have 6 attempts and an incredible number of possible guesses, but it leaves a lot of room for optimization and correlations. Many people have already created different solutions, and some of them can make you guess the final words in about 3.5 guesses on average. Long story short, try using "ORATE" or "RAISE" as your first guess, remember the same letter can appear twice in the same word, and adapt your strategy.

• Handy and simple interface: The Wordle interface focuses on efficiency. You only see your attempts and the virtual keyboard that helps you know the state of each letter throughout your shots. This simplicity by design makes the whole game very accessible and user-friendly.

How to play Wordle?

• Every day you will be able to try guessing a randomly picked word.
• Every time you try a word, you will know for each letter if it is in the right spot (it will appear green), in another spot (it will appear yellow), or not in any spot (it will appear gray).
• Each player has only 6 attempts to guess the word from scratch.

How to download Wordle on Android?

Even though there is no Wordle app for Android, you can still download it and launch it on your web browser.

1. Go to the Wordle official website from your Chrome web browser.
2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner.
3. Hit the download icon to download the Wordle webpage. This is the pointing down arrow.
4. You will see a notification the webpage has been downloaded.
5. To launch Wordle whenever you want, open your Chrome browser, tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner, go to Downloads, find the Wordle webpage you downloaded, and tap on it.
6. Here you go. Enjoy your game.

How to download Wordle on iOS?

This is a short two-step process. First, you are going to download the Wordle page from Safari. Then, open it on Microsoft Edge (as it doesn't work on Safari).

Download the webpage

1. Go to the Wordle official website from your Safari web browser.
2. Tap the Share button.
3. Tap Options next to the page URL.
4. Select Web Archive, then tap Done.
5. Tap Save to Files in the share panel.
6. Choose a folder where to save it, and tap Save.

Open Wordle

Remember you need the Microsoft Edge browser as it does not work on Safari or Chrome.

1. Press and hold on the Wordle webpage in Files, it will bring up the quick actions menu.
2. Select Share.
3. Select Edge.
4. Finally, tap Open in Microsoft Edge.
5. Wordle will then open as an offline web page in Edge, so you can play it without being connected to the internet.

How to download Wordle on your computer?

We also offer you here the offline version of Wordle so that you can keep playing it every day until the list of 2315 Wordle answers runs out in October 2027. The installation can be done in seconds:

1. Download and unzip the Wordle zip package we provide you. You will find a folder containing a file named "Wordle - The New York Times.html" and another folder. Ensure the HTML file and the folder are always at the same location.
2. Run the HTML file using the web browser you want. Just double-click on the file, or right-click on it and select "Run with..." and then select the web browser you want.
3. The web browser will open the file, and you will be able to play Wordle once a day.
