USB connection

Hello,
I have a cam recorder, about 7 years old, that has a cable that looks like a USB cable, but both ends are slightly differt. The end that connects to the camera is slightly more square, but not much larger. The other end that should connects to the computer is also almost the same size, but a bit fatter than a USB 2.0 connector. How do i connect this to my laptop that does not have this type of USB port?
