Connected to internet but can't browse

My ISP is virgin and i have a Samsung laptop I cannot access the internet by clicking on the e icon it keeps indication it cannot find Google.uk the on board adapter indicates that its working in fact if i log on to MSN the front page appears but I cannot access anything else. Yet my partner says she can access google yahoo and any thing else from the virgin modem so that seems to be working. I can only access the web via Chrome, and the internet adapters both on the bottom tool bar and via the control panel say everything is working and the internet is connected which it is but only via Chrome what could the problem be can anyone help please

Go to command prompt
In the Black Command Box Type: netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Hit Enter Key

Restart the computer and try to log in and browse the Internet.

If the problem persists, continue using these steps.
In command prompt

In Black Command Box Type: netsh winsock reset

Hit Enter Key

Restart Computer

Hello,
I'm connected to a public server at my university and the wifi says connected but I don't have access to the internet. I know the Internet works, because I'm accessing it through my phone. However, sometimes an authorization page comes up to allow students to sign in. I'm thinking i need to resurgirías my computer, but i have no idea how to bring up that page since it comes up automatically. Can you help? Thanks

Hello, I was just surfing on firefox one day and decided that I wanted to try out google chrome on my computer. I tried to download it directly from the source at google, but download of the installer would not finish. I then tried the setup that installs it over the Internet, but the installer would not proceed. It recommended that I change the settings on my firewall, which I did. Hello,
I use firefox. I know that my connection is fine, but my firefox screen is blank. The internet explorer screen won't work either - says unable to load page.

Hello,
I have been struggling with this for several days now. I have windows 7 and suddelny my browsers stoped working (IE, Firefox, Chrome) Sometimes I have acces for 3 to 5 mins every hour or so but the problem starts again.
