Desktop Icon Settings

Hello,
Please help in vista home premium in desktop icon settings there are no visible icons so i can't change, my recycle bin is the wrong icon and the ëmpty recycle bin is greyed out. i went to personalise , change icons, and there are no icons visible. Help this is really frustrating.

Hi Gapolo my god you are a legend, i downloaded tune up utilities 2009, and 90% of the problems are fixed.
