Black screen with cursor

Hello, When booting my Windows I just get a black screen with a cursor. I have tried the 'press f8' and 'control/alt/delete ' solutions everyone gives as a fix,but my screen stays the same. Any sure fire answers PLEASE?

Hi. Thanks for replying-I'm at my wit's end here. I'm not the most computer literate,but have Windows 7,not vista. Al.

Try this

1. Remove the battery and cable.

2. Press and hold the power button for 58 seconds.

3. Replug and start.
