Laptop powers on but does not show a display

Hello,
I have dell inspiron n5110, some time my laptop power on but not shown any display on screen totally black no sound no display

Try an external monitor, tell us if you get a signal.

display is ok because some time is working well but some time its on and display not come

What operating system? How old? How long has it been dong this?

dell inspiron n5110 core i5 and window 7 operating system. it is about 4 years old laptop. some time this problem gives and some time its ok. this problem was begining about 1 weak earlier.

Reboot it and then run SFC /scannow

Then defrag the HDD.
