Cannot Access many websites despite wi fi Access in Europe

Hello,
I am in Europe and have wi fi at the hotel. I can access the internet and many apps but not others including FB, messenger, some accounts but not other where I get a message that I am not connected to the internet. But I know I am connected as I can connect to other websites. This is very strange and very frustrating. Any one know how to help?
