dell inspiron..randomly shuts off Closed

Hi!
I have a dell inspiron and it just started to randomly shut off. It wont turn on unless it's plugged in but the battery is not dead. if it comes unplugged it will shut off also or it will just because. When i turn it back on it will say something about the cord not being plugged in but i have never seen this kind of message before and idk if i have a virus or not...any solutions? thanks :)

Had the same problem, ventilation seems to be the culprit.. I did not open the machine however that would probably be best, just used caned air blown through vents on the bottom and back. Installed rubber bumpers on  the bottom to elevate the computer and allow better air flow. All is well thus far.
