Unhooking Alias

Hello,
Is there ANY way of unhooking an alias from an account and keeping the alias as a self-contained account? A widow who was an alias on her late husband's account needs to do this.

  • Click the Settings icon
  • Click More Settings
  • Click Mailboxes
  • Beside "Email alias," click the Expand icon
  • Click your extra email address
  • Click Remove alias
  • Click Remove alias to confirm

Unfortunately, that wouldn't solve the problem: she wants to keep her address - the alias one- and run it separately, eventually discontinuing the main one..
