Ever since the update of the whatsapp Desktop for PC that works without needing to have the phone on a feature stopped working.

It use to work well until the update.

The popup notification works but the sound does not. I don't get any sound notification when I get a new message.

I am the user that posted the Question. I tried using the tips online like disabling the quite hours setting on the O/S but it did not help.

However, I solved it by deleting the two folders in the installation directory of whatsapp.

The folders names are:

windows-quiet-hours

windows-focus-assist

Folders directory is:

C:\Users"enter your Windows username here"\AppData\Local\WhatsApp\app-2.2236.10esources\app.asar.unpacked
ode_modules

One point I want to clarify is that. The folders will need to be deleted each time the Whatsapp is updated.

The 2nd point is that, the directory of the folder that contains the two folder will vary with different versions.

You will be able to search for them after you get to:

\Appdata\local\whatsapp
