Call of duty 4 wont start

Hello,
when im on he desktop and I click on the cod4 multiplayer shortcut it starts to work the it stops and a message comes up and says cod4multiplayer.exe has stopped working windows will notify u if a solution is aavalible is there anything I can do to get it to work?

I had this problam all u gotta do is like plug in a headset
