Hello,

I have an hp loptop (Windows XP)which cannot access the internet. It started first with a constant problem with my wireless hp printer stating over and over "found new hardware". No matter how many times I deleted and downloaded the drivers both from the website and from my original disk, it continued to cause problems in opening documents, slowing things down and starting up the computer. I finally discovered that if I went into the printer and did a print test page, that it would make go away, every time I started up the computer.

Next, I simply couldn't get on the internet so I called Comcast who told me it was the router and that it was old. I bought a new router and downloaded everything but it kept booting me off. The Linksys person gave up on me and said it was my computer/sim card (which is only three years old) and that it couldn't keep up with the new router. I finally got on and then it continued to boot me off and through a complete shutdown found out that Comcast was shutting me down through spikes. They came out and fixed it and I simply could not get on with the new router or intermittently and could not print from the laptop.

Last night I went back to the old router thinking it would work and although it seems to be working fine since my non wireless computer is working. (It has worked the whole time except when the comcast was spiking). I now also can not print from the regular computer either since the printer somehow refused to accept my name and password for my router.

Oh, and last night I went online and tried some things posted in Q & A's such as reset internet explorer, etc. to no avail.

I am at the point now where the laptop basically connects and disconnects repeatedly quickly so that there is no time to even get onto internet explorer. I've run spyware, registry ware, ad aware, etc. and the computer is not at very full memory capacity.

HELP!

Thanks!

hi,

you need to configure the router.

check the manual to get details about how to do it and make sure you have the proper settings.

try to update the drivers of your computer and check for updates for the router.

thank you.
