Assosiated program needed

Hello,

I cannot open anything by double clicking the program shortcut on my desktop. I need to go to the root folder and rightclick "run as" option. Everytime I doubleclick something, it's telling me to browse for the assosiated program to open the file. What worries me is that this message also appears even for changing the time on the taskbar or any icon in the control panel. I assume the W.Virut.C virus I found is the root of all problems. Any suggestions.

Dear Sir,

I will recommend you to restore the computer to an earlier state,

To do System Restore:

Press F8 when the Computer starts after bios check, then select Safe Mode,
1.Click Start.
2.Point to All Programs.
3.Point to Accessories.
4.Point to System Tools.
5.Click System Restore.

Choose a date when your computer was working fine, then press Next Let the process to be done then the computer will restart normally.

Then please update all security and antivirus programs and also your windows system
