Well you don't HAVE to use the wireless option if you don't want. You will find it also has a standard USB connection too.
Of course, if you WANT to use the wireless option you will need to buy a wireless router. The printer needs to talk to a wireless router, and your computer must also connect to the router (either wireless or 'wired' (ethernet). You don't have to use the router to connect ot the internet if you don't want to - you could keep your current modem for that, and just use the router to run your network in the house.
