Computer wont let me do a recovery partition

Hello,
i have a gateway mx6920 laptop. im trying to do a recovery partition, but it wont let me.
when i turn on the computer and press the button to do a recovery and click on the hard drive, the computer doesnt do anything beside just loading normally. its like when i click enter to do a recovery on my hard drive, nothing happens. why is this? why isnt this letting me do a system partition? does anybody know why this is happening?

i want to do a recovery partition but everytime i choose the hard drive and click next it wont do a destructive it will just load normally.
i want to make the computer to like day one settings.
