Hello,
One day I was using my computer (COMPAQ PRESARIO F730 NOTEBOOK) and everything was working fine. Then later on that day I came back to my computer and the internet wasn't working. I've tried all the trouble shooting I can try. The error message says plug a cable into the "Local Area Connection". My other computer works fine as well as anyone else in the apt with a laptop. What happened to my comp?

Try to use other network cable and test again, also ensure network card driver is installed correctly. If you need more helps, have a look on this using ping to troubleshoot network problem article.
