Hello,

I'm running Vista and I'm trying to printer on a Lexmark X4650 all-in-one printer. There is a communication error between the computer and the printer, and the Lexmark people believe the problems lies in the USB ports.

I have downloaded the driver for the printer off of the Lexmark website and it seems to have done nothing to help the situation.

When I plug in the printer and go into My Computer, the printer is recognized as a removable disk. Also, when I click 'properties' of the OS and click the hardware tab, the Lexmark printer is recognized as a mass storage device.

It seems this is something of a problem with Vista, but is there anything I can do to make the printer recognize and communicate with the printer?

then remove any media attached to the printer

like usb flash disk and memory card

then install the driver

also go to services and restart the print spooler

I have exactly the same situation with an HP cm 1312nfi printer running in Vista Home. Is this a serious problem? Did you find a solution?
