External hardrive recognition on dextop

Hello,
I need my dextop to recognize an external hard drive I have plugged in. Can you help?

hi there,

is it a new device?

have you checked it on other pc?

is the power switched on ?

is it a 2.5 or 3.5 inch external hard drive?

please give more information on it and change the data cable to usb 2.0
