Laptop connecting to internet but not working

My laptop will say it has connected to my wireless internet, but when I try to use any internet connection; explorer, windows messenger etc it does not work. I have restarted my computer and there is no change. I am presently using a different laptop on the same wireless network with no problem connecting to and using the internet.

I am using an acer aspire 5630, running Vista.

Check out this wireless network troubleshooting tips article, maybe you just need to do little change to fix this problem.
