Computer starts then stops with memory upgrad

Hello,
I had a 512 and a 256 card. Changed the 2nd card to a 512. Computer starts then stops. monitor says "going to sleep". If I take out both the mem cards, it will stay on and give long beeps. I had just defragged and did all the updates.

HI,

Of course you will hear a long beep if you take out all RAMS, just use the 512 one and it should work!!!

it will start then stop with no beeps for any configuration of the mem cards. one card, 2 cards, old and new cards, 2 new cards......

I tested it with no mem and got POST code E1, page won't load.
With any combo of mem it shuts off after a sec and the last code I get is FF.
Is this a bad board or bad memory?

Yes I expected it to beep with no memory. You are very rude.
