Usb problem

Hello,
when i stick in my 8gb kingston usb it says found new hardware all drivers are installed and the usb automatically installs my usb driver but when u access the usb drive it says error incorrect function. Under disk management it says there is no media and when u go properties it says 0mb when there should be 8gb. plz help really wanna use my usb stick and formatting does not work as the same rror meg comes up saying incorrect function.
