Windows Advanced Options Menu Screen Loop

Hello,

Just like one of your customers/friends, my Compaq Presario laptop keeps going to the Windows Advanced Options Menu screen at power on automatically with no key presses at all, and once there, none of the menu choices get me out of this loop.

Here's what happens:

When I turn the power on, I first see the Compaq logo, then it goes right to the Windows Advanced Options Menu screen. From here, I cannot enter any of the safe modes (or even get out of this screen) and after it times out (30 seconds)--to go to Windows, I see the Windows XP screen for about 1 second, then it goes to another screen where it flashes something, then I see the Compaq logo just before it goes back to the Windows Advanced Options Menu screen...and so on, and so on, and so on.

It seems like just before all of this happened, I started seeting some type of Win32 error.

Can you help?
