Mac freezes when hard drive plugged in

Hello,

My OS X MacBook Pro started freezing every time I plug in my external Western Digital 1TB hard drive. It worked fine until a few days ago when I emptied the trash with the hard drive plugged in. The only thing i can do is force shut down the computer and unplug my hard drive.

Any thoughts?

The problem may come from your power supply which is not powerful enough to accept any other hardwares !
