Internet access problem

Hello,
I have a Sony Vaio, I just set up a secure Linksys wify.....my wireless connection verifies that i am connected to the to the secure wify and signal strength is excellent.
The propblem is when starting Internet Explprer or Firefox i cannot connect to either services.
With IE I get a message: Internet Exporer cannot display the webpage.
With Firefox the message is: Firefox can't find server.
Your help is appreciated.......
