Laptop problem

Hello,
I have an Acer laptop, aspire 5100. i have just installed new windows for professional XP pro yesterday, but since i started installing new windows .. it keeps turning off by itself. it still keeps turning off even after my installation of windows and other software. and it is not a heat problem .. i have checked. so any suggetion what might cause it and what can i do . ?? .. really need it .. my classes are starting on 25th .. thanks ..

Does it shut off while you are doing something? Or do you get up and when you get back to your laptop it is off?

its both .. it just shuts off .. which is scary .. it took me a WHILE to install my windows .. it started yesterday .. yesterday it shut down like 6 times .. today it did about 4 times .. after that i didn't even turn it on ..

It must be a bios setting. What did it come preinstalled with?
