Windows Updates, IE won't open

Hello,
I have installed windows updates and now IE won't open. Diagnostics says nothing wrong with internet connection. I can use desktop Weather , but just not anything that has to go through IE. I am using windows vista home premium. I can't access any fixes on the computer because I can't open IE. Any ideas on how to fix this?? THank you so much in advance.
