It would appear that the hard disk has failed. Did you press F1 or F2?

Possible - but, unlikely. You will need to remove the hard drive - buy an adapter to connect it to another computer as an external drive. Test it and if not readable buy recovery software. You might find a computer repair shop to try but it will be costly.

Nights before, the fan had been running overtime, although it was not hot to the touch. I am not sure if that means that something was over heating.
Is it at all possible to retrieve my data?
