Hello, When I try to boot up my PC, I get this message: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe. please re-install a copy of the above file" My PC did not come with a Windows XP disc, so I don't know what to do - and I've got so much stuff on my hard drive that I don't want to lose it all. please help :(

Borrow a CD from some one. You dont have to reinstall whole xp, just copy the file by command

expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32
