Toshiba Laptop wont start up at all

Hello,
Toshiba laptop (running XP Home) wont start up at all. Power comes on for few seconds then it turns off again. Nothing comes up on screen. Installed SP3 yesterday and Internet Explorer 8! Help. Any suggestions or ideas Please.

I am having the same problem with my Compaq. Power turns on for 1 second then turns off again

Can anyone help?

did you ever get a fix? my toshiba satellite is doing the samething
