Could you please indicate whether you do have sound on your speakers so that we can understand the matter clearly for if there is no sound, you might believe that the volume buttons have got damaged.

I have a hp pavilion lap top and at first just the lights on the mute and +and - buttons didn't work, but the function still worked, then function stopped working. I unplugged the power and took my battery out and that reset it and the lights and function worked again for a while but then the same thing hap pend again. I just replaced my battery and I haven't had a problem since. hope this helps.
