No graphics on laptop

Hey there,
I have noticed that whenever a software designed for xp is installed on vista the latter will tend to lose its graphics like the other day I installed age of empires accidentally on a friend laptop vista based and since then he cant have graphics options on his laptop any help please?

what do you mean "lose its graphics" - do you mean no display at all?
