when i turn on my computer it lights up for a sec then goes dark so i can barley see it. if i shut the screen and open it again it will light up for a sec then dark is there something i can do or do i have to bring it in

I suspect this is a problem with the backlight or inverter that supplies power to the backlight. It will require servicing by a qualified repair shop.
