I had to reset my router now when i go to its set up page i need to enter my isp user name and password but my isp is convinced My wife has called them three times now that they don't give out user names or passwords.
i'm in spain and i didn't set up the internet account here.
Could they be right can a isp work without user names or passwords?
Linkys router, windows XP, netbook without cd drive.

Oh yes they CAN work without usr name or password, if you have cable broadband or DSL then the system is set up to connect to your modems Mac address via the cable same thing with DSL, Sounds like the settings within the router are changed, do you need these to get into the router Config GUI or too get on the internet as well. Sounds like you may need to resetup the router, because you can use a router on a home network and not even have an internet connection.
