My ipod wont turn or work for me at all!!!

Hello, my ipod is stupid...i plugged it into the wall charger and it just turned black. then the apple pic showed up and it just stayed there for 15-20 minutes not doing anything. Then after it does that the scrren goes black for like 5 seconds and just shows the apple again and i cant get it to turn on!! i tried the holding the sleep/awake and home button and it still doesnt work!!! can someone help me?? (this is about and ipod 3rd gen touch.)

Dear Sir,

There might be a problem with its charger. Please try charging it with another charger and if the problem continues, you will definitely come up to know that the battery is not working properly and will have to get it replaced.
