Scenario.
Windows 2003 server with a folder I have shared.
I wish to give permission to a local user account on a windows xp machine to this shared folder?

Both workstation and server are on the domain, but account I wish to give permission is local.

Is this possible? or does the user have to be a domain user account to provide read/write access to the share?

Any help would be much appreciated.

they don't have to be part of the Domain, as long as they are part of the same network, as long as both local and remote computer logon names and passwords are the same. to test, go to my computer, and type on the address bar \\serverIP\FOLDER
or
\\ServerIP\FOLDER\FOLDER\FOLDER

on the client side though :P

both server and workstation are on the domain and in the same subnet and network ip range. I can access the shared folder but the username and password are different for the server and the windows xp workstation.
