I have XP Home Edition SP2 that was recently reinstalled by my dad on this computer ( Dell motherboard). For some reason when I connected my speakers (usb, plug and play kind) they turn on but the computer doesn't recognize it. I tried the Windows Help and Support option but that didn't help. I thought perhaps there isn't a sound card in the machine but my Dad confirmed this because the computer has been in his possession for the past 5+ years and he didn't replace it when he bought it from Dell. The only logical conclusion I believe is perhaps when he reinstalled it it wiped out the driver for the sound card and I can't figure out how to get it back.
If anyone has a solution, I'd appreciate very much. Thanks.

Dear Justin,

The problem should be arising from the audio driver. Please get to the Device Manager and see whether it is missing or if it needs to be updated for it to get functioning properly.

Thank you.
