External hard drive is not showing my files

I'm not sure why its missing, i can add more files in and it appears, but the files that were there are not there anymore, although the space for them is still taken up.

i've tried to rename/change the drive (from e:\ to r:\) and that didn't work.

and recuva found all the old files i deleted, but none of the files i want that are not deleted.

help please.

i think virous doing this . scan by updated antivirous. thanks(roshan)

i did a virus scan. nothing showed up.

it didn't even scan any files really except a 3 temp files on the hd. i used MSE. it scanned in like 2 seconds.

i also did a scan of my computer and nothing showed up there either, so its not like the external is being blocked.

ugh.

anybody else with any other ideas?? please?

if file or folder is not important formate c drive and instal operating system. again
