My Ipod restarts by itself

Hello, why does my ipod classic always gets all the music and videos erased when i plug it in itunes? and sometimes when im in the middle of a video, the ipod just restarts all of a sudden, and sometimes it erases all my music.. please help me. :/

Which version of itunes and os are you using ?Plase give more information.
