Perhaps the hard drive was reformatted by the Mac. To share data between a Mac and a PC the hard drive must be formatted in FAT32. The PC can't see a Mac partitioned hard drive and the Mac can't write to a NTFS formatted hard drive. Search this site for "FAT 32 format" to find a program able to format large drives using FAT32.
