Ipod nano

Hello,

i have what i think is the latest ipod nano (video camera,camera etc) problem is that when plug in to synch a diologue box comes up telling me that i need to download itunes 9 or later.
i have now been trying to download this sofware for 4 weeks without success. the download almost completes then another dialogue box comes up telling me that the file cannot be downloaded due to an unrecognisable signature.
i have gone through the whole process's recommended on the apple support site again without success. Can anyone help me to be able to enjoy my ipod?
