Display on Dell Inspiron 1525 shuts down

For some reason, my laptop display shuts down every couple of minutes. It only does this if plugged in and I have to close the lid and open it again to get it to work. IT is very disruptive and is a relatively new problem. My settings tell it never to shut down if plugged in but it does it anyway. I am running Vista. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Please consider checking whether the problem is not actually coming from your motherboard or power supplying unit.
