Hello,

I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows XP. I'm unable to open My Documents, My Computer, Recycle Bin, Control Panel (in the start panel) or My Network Places on my desktop. If I try, my desktop freezes and I'm forced to shut down my computer and turn it back on.

My laptop works absolutely fine aside from this problem. I'd like to get some answers before shelling out money for a repair at a computer shop.

I think your computer received hpswp_bho.dll virus due to which you cann'ot open My Computer,Control Panel etc. Therefore you should use malwarebytes to remove it along with any anti-virus. or you can tell from here

I have both MalwareBytes and Kaspersky Lab 2010 both installed on my computer, and they haven't picked up that virus. I'll go to the site, but thank you for your help.
