Everything work except screen

Hello,
My labtop is brand new and it was working fine. When I left for 5 hours and came back to it everything was working, lights and fan. The only thing that was not working was the screen, went black, nothing would show. I try with the battery and with out to try to get it working. Then decied to leave battery charging over night and in the moring I checked and hold down the power button and it came back on, my screen. I can start it. I just don't know what happen??? Is it suppose to happen like that , is that normaly?? Thanks
