Call of duty4 stopped working

Hello,
Please help i got the cod4 game first it worked then when tried again it would not work i then got advice which was just plug in headphones it should work it did on line but kept bouncing me out only allowing about 30 sec.
every time i chose single player it says put in cd althogh its in i am going mad it cost me 33pounds

i'm not great with stuff like that but it might be your disc reader in the whole system itself check if it works with another game
