Locked mini laptop w/ no windows PW

Hello,



I was given an Acer laptop that used to be a part of a public school system network with windows xp pro. I don't have the password and I tried to do some of the things that was in the forum, but i don't have the disk to do it in repair. I have a 2gb usb drive and another laptop. i downloaded Cain and Abel onto my flash but can't put on floppy because the new laptop is a mini with NO disc drives. I have the product key for the new laptop (mini). I couldn't run the C&A because I can't figure out how to get the mini to start from the flash drive.

I tried the command prompt but it still ask for a login/password, so what to do now?

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi,

try this 1

When the "Welcome Screen" appears hold ctrl and shift keys and press DEL key

twice. A window will be appeared asking you username and password.

Type username as Administrator and then click on OK.

Now you can reset the password from the administrator account.

Jack,
the locked laptop (mini) does NOT have any CD drives so DLing this CD would be useless! Unless there is some way to DL it to my flash drive and get it to load from there...is there?

Hello Tokyo,

Sorry for the late reply.

1) Click on the below link and download the file.

2)Click on the below link and download that file also.
http://space.dl.sourceforge.net/project/unetbootin/UNetbootin/471/unetbootin-windows-471.exe
3)Now plug your flash drive or pen drive
4) Now double-click on "unetbootin-windows-471" file ( second downloaded file)
UNetbootin window will be opened.
Now select the second option "Diskimage" --> click on [...] button and browse to the file "ebcd-1.1k-demo.iso" (first file that was downloaded.)
Now make sure that
Type is "USB Drive" and "Drive" is your flash drive or pen drive letter.
Then click on OK.
Now go to bios and set first boot device as your USB flash drive.
